Frequently Asked Questions
How often should my air filters be cleaned or changed?
Filters should be cleaned or changed monthly; a dirty filter will lower the efficiency of your equipment. If your unit does not have adequate air flow your unit is not breathing this can minimize your units performance. A good rule of thumb is to clean or change your filter every month upon receipt of your utility bill.
A dirty filter can cause your coil to freeze up, and can ultimately damage the compressor. Things that can cause your coil to freeze up, as mentioned before a dirty filter, a dirty coil, low on refrigerant, debris or insulation that is blocking the air flow to your coil.
If your coil freezes - a temporary fix is to shut the unit off and allow the fan only to operate for approximately one hour. Shutting the unit down will allow the ice to melt. Restart the unit, and cooling should begin. If your coil continues to freeze up – a service call will be necessary.
Should my thermostat be set to “Auto” or “On”
If the thermostat is set to “auto”, the fan will operate only when the temperature requires. If the thermostat is set to “on” the fan will operate all of the time.
If your thermostat is displaying strange numbers – check the battery it could be that the battery needs to be replaced.
